Having problems getting access to a gmail account from your mobile device like an iPhone or iPad?
Does apple mail say you are using the incorrect username or password with gmail, even though you know it’s your gmail username and password?
You may have 2 step verification set up on your gmail account and you need to create a application specific password for your iPhone or iPad to give them access.
It only take a moment, I’ve included some details about it below and a link to more info on Google’s website.
Some applications that work outside a browser aren’t yet compatible with 2-step verification and cannot ask for verification codes, for example:
- Apps on smartphones such as Android, BlackBerry or iPhone
- Mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook
- Chat clients such as Google Talk or AIM
To use these applications, you first need to generate an application-specific password. Next, enter that in the password field of your application instead of your regular password. You can create a new application-specific password for each application that needs one.
